2 Author’s Note
First and foremost, I write for myself, my inner child and for those with the same poetic taste and thirst as me. Pardon my uncommon language and artistic style. I urge you, poetically, to use your six senses, gut feelings, intuition, logic and reason to digest it. I meekly beseech you to please consume this book responsibly. If any of my writings (past, present and future) happen to provoke, oppose, or offend you and your beliefs, faith, religion, culture and traditions in any way, then kindly remember something. That these are my honest opinions, point of views, thoughts, ideologies, philosophy, truths and thinking as viewed and written from my own perspective. Unapologetically. I write to see, seek, feel, express, experience, inner-stand and understand myself from the essence of my own being. For those who are too sensitive to my truth, this is my reality, and I kindly warn you to stop here. This is your first, second, and last warning. If your curiosity permits you to continue, I pray that you are renewed and totally transformed by this feature presentation. “The Naked Race” is solely for brave hearted individuals and open-minded souls. For those who want to be
3 liberated, emancipated, and redeemed from the great deception, this is the book for you. For the minds that want to be illuminated rather than intoxicated, I pray that you get something from my book. For those who want to escape from Babylon and return back to Zion, you will be thoroughly entertained. For how long shall mortal men fear and shy away from their own shadows and wicked deeds? A lion doesn’t give birth to a goat. Don’t be a lion in sheep clothing. Remember, many are called, but few are chosen. So, who are you and what do you stand for? A lion isn’t hatched from an egg and this we all know. Why? Because it’s humanly an insult and divinely an abomination to merely sacrifice rats and cats to propitiate the deities. Poetry is what I speak, breath, eat, dream and live for. I believe a poem a day can keep a nation awake. Even if I only knew two letters of the alphabet like the two sides of a coin, I would still write poetry. I’m illegally married to all genres of literature, but I’m deeply in love with poetry. It’s my first love and my first language. All of my poems are unique, like my own image. In God I trust, but in words I drown.
4 DEDICATION
To God, the giver of gifts and talents. I am grateful for who I Am! I Am a humble servant who always walk with the Father. I shine and reflect your greatness, Lord. And to my dear beloved mom and best friend, Miss. Asienzo Betty James. Truth be told...you not only taught me the art and tactics of survival, but you also shaped, groomed, nurtured and raised me to be a King. You have and will always be my exquisite mother. When I was stripped for loving beyond my reach, you stood beside me as a dear friend, mentor and an ever-present mother. Just like my dad, the late Mr. Azza James Iku Wara, rest his soul. As his inaudible voice rests, resides and shines in my debut book titled “Emotions” I wrote it with the ashes of self- doubt to see it come to life. I gift you this second born of mine titled “The Naked Race” as a beacon of hope and light to reflect how far we have come from the depth of life’s darkness. When asked if anything good can come out of ghetto, your reply was, “The ghetto must shine, and none of you will be a failure.” So, I am here to represent and change that societal and environmental narrative.
5 Mom, this is more than just an assurance that you are more than just a mother and a father figure to me and my other five siblings. We adore every single piece of you, mom. And to my future princess and daughter Kingston, dad welcomes you to the miracles of life. May you grow up to be a free spirit like air and be of service to the universe. I love you to the core.

And to all my other uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces and relatives. The list is endless, but my heart has you all inked and written all over its chambers and veins. To my jolly and funny grandma, Anatasia Mary. You’re my ever-present vocal box, friend and mentor. Thanks for being a bottomless well to all of my burning questions. Thank you for loving, nurturing and supporting all the different sides of me. I’m grateful that you encouraged me to be the best version of myself. You always tell me, “Focus on your education if you truly want to be free.” And to put God first in all that I do. You encourage me “to firmly stand for what I stand for regardless of if I stand alone,” reminding me that true freedom comes at a cost. Her teachings sit deep within my bones. I adore you. To Natalie Zhirnova, a fellow writer and content creator based in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. Thanks for believing in me and my craft. With you it’s always a safe ride. You make life worth the risks.
8 To my dear friend, editor, mentor and brother from another mother and continent, Larry Wilson Jr. (Dapharoah69) in Goulds, (Miami) Florida, U.S.A. He is a living legend, and a literary icon. I am so honored and humbled to work with you once again on this project as my official editor, proofreader, book format artist, type setter and designer. Your legendary hands have never ceased to welcome, and you loaned me your assistance, guidance and expertise anytime and anywhere, free of charge. Thank you for being a huge fan and supporter of my craft. I’m a proud product of the King Awards 2020, that ignited my literary journey. I won Best Poetry Book and Poet of The Year 2020, that you and the other eight secret judges on the panel hosted. You all voted and awarded me, unanimously, 1st Place and crowned me as “Poet of the Year” in 2020. Thanks for cleansing, ironing, fine tuning and coloring my words to the best of your ability, with love and patience. You have once again sacrificed your time to burn the midnight oil to see my second testament come to life. You’re the true definition of a true friend. I owe you so much, my dear brother from another mother and continent.
