5 Chapter 1: A New School Day The morning sun shone brightly over Greenfield Primary School. Pupils hurried through the school gate, greeting one another and laughing as they made their way to their classrooms. Among them was a boy named Obi. He was neat, quiet, and always carried his books carefully. Obi loved learning. He did not think he was better than anyone else, but he enjoyed asking questions and finding answers. That morning, their teacher, Mrs. Ade, entered the classroom with a smile. “Good morning, children!” “Good morning, ma!” the pupils replied. “Today, we are going to learn something new,” she said. Obi opened his notebook and sat up straight. He was ready.
6 Chapter 2: The Difficult Question Mrs. Ade wrote a difficult question on the board. It was a mathematics problem that required careful thinking. “Who can solve this?” she asked. The class became silent. Some pupils stared at the board, while others searched through their notebooks. Obi raised his hand. Mrs. Ade invited him to come forward. He read the question twice, thought for a moment, and explained each step. “That is correct!” Mrs. Ade said happily. The class clapped. Obi smiled modestly and returned to his seat. He knew that he had answered correctly because he had practised, not because he was lucky.
7 Chapter 3: A Jealous Classmate A boy named Tunde sat near the window. He was not happy whenever Obi answered a question correctly. “Why does Obi always know everything?” Tunde whispered to his friend, Sola. Sola shrugged. “Maybe he studies at home.” Tunde folded his arms. He wanted to be the best pupil too, but he did not like spending time reading. At break time, Tunde walked past Obi and said, “You think you are the cleverest boy in the school.” Obi looked at him calmly. “I am only trying to learn,” he replied. Then he went to join his friends.
