hall. Then I said, “Is it only us that is cleaning this place?” He said, “It’s not bad. That makes you special indeed. This is how I used to come early to my church and clean everywhere before people started arriving. If they see God start blessing me, they will start to get jealous.” I laughed in my mind and thought, Who cares about what he’s saying? Who told you God won’t bless other people because they don’t come early and clean the church? He added, “I’m also a pastor.” “Wow, wow. You are very handsome to be a pastor.” “People say that a lot.” Suddenly, I found him interesting and had a crush on him at that moment. I wished he could have a crush on me too. So, that day passed. I met him in my church again during a church program. I thought this was destiny. After some months, while I was working, he was passing by and I waved at him. Though he didn’t recognize me instantly because he thought I looked like a new person. It was around Christmas time, and I had done my hair nicely and put on makeup. So, I explained to him how we met. Then he sat down with me, and we gisted for about one hour. He left his bag with me to carry and went to talk with
his friend. Let me tell you what he told me about himself. He said he had stopped allowing more women into his life and had become a pastor that God sent. He said he was taking care of six people at once. Well, I didn’t doubt him. I thought he was rich, not knowing that this man had nothing. His pocket was empty; he just carried anointing around and toasted women. So, he toasted me, and I said, “Let me give him a try.” I accepted, and we started dating. He wouldn’t call me. I would be the one calling him. It now looked as if I was forcing him into the relationship. Ahhh, unbelievable! I called him six times one day to ask him where he was, and I felt embarrassed when he didn’t pick up my calls. So, he came to my shop that day. We gisted and talked about money. He said he was afraid to marry me because it looked like I liked money. I thought within myself, This one is looking for a manageable wife who will not think about the future. He is looking for someone they will be reading Sunday school with together on stage. That day passed. Then he came another day and slept. Though I was afraid to talk to him because I felt a pastor was too big for me, I didn’t feel free around him. So, I told him to let us break up.
Can you imagine what he said? He said, “You’re the one always calling me. I was never into it.” I was shocked. I started sweating. I thought within myself that if not for the fact that he carried the name “pastor,” I would have blasted him and embarrassed him instantly. But I controlled my annoyance. That was when we stopped seeing each other. But our last impression was when he came with one guy. Actually, that was Boy 2. They both lied that Boy 2 was his younger brother. But I told them they didn’t resemble each other. They lied again and said their father was the same but they had different mothers. I couldn’t say anything because I wasn’t just free around this Mr. Pastor. That was when Boy 1 and I stopped meeting for a while. I thought I could give him a chance and date him, but it didn’t work. This is number one: love that deserves a breakup — when you are not free around that person. You can’t say anything; you just watch him talk. There is no space for you to speak at all. Chapter Two How I Met Boy 2 Now, my pastor told me Boy 1 would send a drummer who would play for us because he knew
my pastor. I asked my pastor why he would do that. My pastor said he just wanted to help us. Imagine who this drummer was — Boy 2. Boy 2 was a very good drummer and handsome, so I was surprised to see him. After the service, he invited me to Boy 1’s church. He said that was his own church, so I went to their program. He collected my number, and we started chatting. After chatting for a while, I accepted to date him. He finally told me that Boy 1’s church was not his main church and that he came to my church because of me. He lied again, this time about his church. I saw it as a normal thing and love. Wow, what a complicated story! He came to my church because of me. He also told me that he and Boy 1 were not related at all, that he was from Ghana. I accepted his lie. Anything he got angry about, he got angry quickly. Actually, we could chat for three hours, and we began to love each other. He even agreed that I should not come to his place. I was so happy to find someone so kind because I noticed most men…
